About Used Road Bikes

Used Road Bikes helps you work out what a used road bike is really worth, and find a good one on eBay in your size without trawling through hundreds of listings.

How it works

  1. We search eBay every day in the UK and US (and Germany, Australia and Canada when you ask) for 268 road, gravel and TT bike models from 52 brands, using eBay's official Browse API.
  2. We keep complete bikes only. A listing must name the brand and model. We remove framesets, wheels and parts, e-bikes, kids' and mountain bikes, and listings that name a different model from the same brand.
  3. We read each title for the groupset (Dura-Ace, Ultegra, 105, Red, Force, Rival, Record and more), electronic shifting, frame size, frame material, brakes and model year, and sort listings into new or ex-demo, used, and spares or repair.
  4. We work out a typical price for each model and condition, and for each groupset tier when there are enough listings: the median Buy It Now price including postage, once there are at least 3 listings. Auction bids aren't counted, because they aren't final prices.
  5. We score every Buy It Now bike against the typical price for its model, condition and groupset, flag sellers with little or poor feedback, and warn about bikes priced so low they may be stolen, damaged or a scam.
  6. We record prices daily to build a price history for each model.

What our prices are, and aren't

Our figures are asking prices from live listings, not sold prices, so a bike can sell for less. Sizes, groupsets and materials are read from titles automatically, and sellers don't always get them right. Always read the listing, and ask the seller, before you buy.

How we make money
